The 1st EIT Food Innovation Marketplace was held 22-23 February 2017 in Bilbao, Spain. This match making event allowed the members of EIT Food to get in touch and discuss potential research projects. Namely these are Nestlé, Döhler, Bosch, Siemens, Herbstreith & Fox KG, DSM, PepsiCo, ABP Food Group, Sodexo and others along with many Institutions, Universities and innovative Start-Up Companies which are members in the Rising Food Stars Start-Up Club, such as Elea.

Partnerships with EIT Food Companies give us the opportunity to participate in food and biotechnological related research projects to develop innovative industrial relevant applications. These innovations, at Elea based on the pulsed electric fields technology, are aimed to the EIT Food goals, for example the conservation of resources: through yield improvements, food waste reduction and savings in water and energy consumption. This can be achieved due to process optimizations with our SmoothCut system for solid fruit and vegetable processing. For improved microbe or algae ingredient extraction or quality preservative inactivation of various liquids, our SafeJuice systems are available.

Elea was represented by Elea’s Managing Director Dr. Stefan Toepfl and Bioprocess Engineer Vanessa Völkel.
